ARCA
In 2003 we developed a new website for ARCA which was subsequently launched in January 2004. The key features of the site include:-
- A searchable directory of members with a web page for each member.
- A private web area for members to log-in to and access member information.
- A private web page for each member allowing them to update their details.
- News, publications, events and vacancies web pages that can be updated.
- A training course section that details the complete annual calendar of courses with a system to book on-line.
Following the launch of the site further key features were added throughout 2004. This included upgrading the training section to full e-commerce allowing non-members to book and pay for courses on-line and for members to do likewise at reduced member rates. A system for creating HTML newsletters was developed along with |

significant work on search engine optimisation and monitoring.
The impact of the new website on the performance of ARCA in 2004 has been dramatic. Turnover is up 25%, training course bookings are up 35%, and there has been a large increase in the membership. The website is receiving 10,000 visits per month on average, including many new site visitors being diverted to the site by search engines. The site’s search engine rankings have increased rapidly over 2004 to the extent that in December 2004 there were 71 known number 1 keyword rankings with the major search engines.
